About
Hi and welcome to The Notecook! My name is Sasha and I cook and photograph a tasty mixture of gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan recipes using feel good ingredients!
On my blog, you'll also find health and nutrition-related articles courtesy of my mum, Nishtha - a qualified clinical nutritionist and functional medicine practitioner.
Our ultimate goal is to provide you with delicious and balanced recipes, as well as easily digestible tips for a healthier future.
So… I guess all you need to do is enjoy and take note.
To tell you a little about myself... I am a 26 year old food, fashion and travel enthusiast from London, U.K.
Coming from a family of incredible cooks, my interest in cooking has always come naturally to me, but it wasn't until my early teen years that I became more passionate about it.

In 2014, I was diagnosed with IBD - an autoimmune condition affecting my gut.
Living with this condition meant I had to make drastic changes to my diet and lifestyle, so I took it upon myself to get more creative in the kitchen. With the help of my mum, I began familiarising myself with new ingredients and their nutritional values, and realised how much of an impact food can have on our overall health and wellbeing. I cut out gluten and most dairy products, and instead, started fuelling my body with foods that made me feel good.
I created this blog so that I could share my creations with you, as well as my ever-growing interest in health and nutrition. I want to show you that healthy food doesn't have to be boring and that gluten-free food can still taste delicious!
I hope you enjoy my content and revisit for some more noteworthy recipes!

Growing up, I was always surrounded by phenomenal cooks. My grandmothers, mother, aunties and father encouraged me to cook from a young age and together have taught me pretty much everything I know about cooking today! I find it's not only a great way to de-stress but also a lovely way of bringing people together.

Hi, I’m Nishtha...Sasha's mother and also a certified clinical nutritionist and functional medicine practitioner, specialising in gut health.
Going beyond my love of cooking, I have always been fascinated by the healing properties of certain foods and spices. This is something that I picked up from my grandmother, who is a true believer in 'food as medicine'. She would have a natural remedy at hand for any sort of problem we were having - albeit a headache, stomach ache or joint pains.
It was this interest in food and the connection it has with the human body that led me to study nutrition. I was intrigued by the fact that making dietary changes could help heal or significantly ease their ailments such as IBS, eczema, asthma and acne, for example.
After qualifying as a certified clinical nutritionist in 2015, I later went on to study Functional medicine in the United States and became a certified functional medicine practitioner. My job now involves helping people from all over the world try to find the root cause of their diseases by analysing their dietary choices, general nutrition, and the ways in which they sleep, breathe, eat and move. By working in this way, rather than focusing on the treatment of specific diseases, I can help restore normal physiology and normal bodily 'function', and mitigate symptoms of disease. Food and nutrition play a key role in causing a person to be in a state of ‘dis-ease'!
I am honoured and delighted to be working with my daughter, Sasha, to help educate you on the topics of health and nutrition. I hope you enjoy our content!
Love,
Nishtha
